1074 / 1075 High Carbon Steel “Blue Temper / Spring Steel”
Description
1074/1075 C .69/.80 Mn .40/.80 P .020 max S .025 Max Si .15/.30
Available in either Rc 50 Spring Temper or in custom-hardened and tempered condition up to Rc 62, AISI 1095 or 1075 carbon steel is a good, economical material choice where corrosion is not expected to be a problem, and where material is a significant component of total blade cost (as is the case with large, thick blades, or when production quantities are quite high). 1095 or 1075 carbon steel is also a good candidate on blades that need to be selectively hardened by induction heating.
Applications
Blades, Clips, brackets, brake discs, clutches, springs, washers, wear strips
A steel frequently used for larger blades and swords, 1075 is tough, durable, and hypo-eutectic.
