9310 / E9310 Chromium-Nickel-Molybdenum Aircraft Quality Alloy Steel
Description
The high alloy content in 9310 allows for heavy sections to be treated to result in high case hardness and high core strength and toughness. This material is useful without carburizing, yet carburizing produces a highly wear-resistant case. The material is vacuum degassed and is also available in consumable electrode vacuum remelting process.
Applications
High hardenability case steel, since it is a high alloy, both the case and core have high hardenability. This type of steel is used particularly for carburized parts having thick sections such as bearing races, heavy duty gears etc
